OUR HISTORY

Our history

Every idea rooted in humanity is built upon a story. And when that idea transforms into a mission, a light is born within human relationships—a light that marks the beginning of a new story, a new moment. A life, once personal, extends to thousands, to hundreds of thousands, and that light spreads everywhere, warming hearts and reminding us that a person must first seek humanity within themselves. And if they cannot find it, they must awaken it, because humanity has never truly left us—it simply slumbers within many, gently rocked by the cradle of life’s trials and tribulations, waiting for faith to revive it.

The "Meronts Hamar" charitable initiative has its own story. It was in 2023 when a 90-year-old grandfather, a survivor of the Artsakh wars, arrived at the "Meronts Tun" care center. He had been swept away by the storms of war, burdened by the blows of fate. Yet, despite everything, his spirit remained unbroken. We realized that this spirit needed not just care, but a chance to manifest itself—not as a mere countdown of remaining days but as a beacon of wisdom for future generations. This elderly man had no home, no financially stable relatives, and no means to access quality care. But he had one thing—hope and the right to a dignified old age.He was alone, vulnerable, carrying the silent suffering of the elderly, which had settled deep within his eyes. And that day changed everything for us. We understood that one-time help was not enough—we needed a fundamental solution to the problem. "Meronc Hamar" was born to be more than just a care center. It was meant to be a warm and loving home for those who, due to circumstances, had found themselves in difficult social and economic conditions.

Today, our vision is about more than just extending a helping hand. We aim to reshape societal attitudes, to create an environment where elderly individuals live surrounded by love, attention, and care. A place where no one feels alone. A place where everyone feels at home. A place where no one feels like a burden—because these elders, the repositories of wisdom, are valuable and needed.

"Meronts Hamar" was born not merely from compassion but from belief—and we are determined to make it a reality.

What inspires us?

The grateful smiles of the elderly at "Meronts Tun," their peaceful expressions, their warm words of appreciation—these are what drive us forward. But this drive is not just a duty; it is a privilege. Every word, every handshake, every blessing gives profound meaning to our mission.A significant number of our compatriots in the Armenian diaspora wish for their parents and grandparents to spend their later years in their homeland, yet they also want them to receive international-standard care. We aim to fulfill this dream, to create an institution that not only fills this gap but also turns the homeland into a tangible, living experience—a home where they can live in love and care. This inspiration will take shape if our work becomes a lifeline for elderly individuals and our newly established center becomes a symbol of intergenerational solidarity. This program is not just about elderly care. It is about the homeland, heritage, and our responsibility to one another. We are not simply building a center—we are bridging generations, paving the way for the wisdom of the elderly to engage with the energy of the young.
